HSBC Bank Breached Again, Suspends Online Access to Affected Accounts

Enhances authentication process to Personal Internet Banking

HSBC Bank USA, National Association, has been breached and attackers managed to steal customers’ full names, phone numbers, emails, dates of birth, account numbers, payee account information, more.

 

According to a Notice of Data Breach sent to affected customers on November 2, 2018, HSBC Bank USA, UK-based HSBC’s American subsidiary, found out that a number of online accounts were accessed “by unauthorized users between October 4, 2018, and October 14, 2018.”

 

“When HSBC discovered your online account was impacted, we suspended online access to prevent further unauthorized entry of your account,” says the HSBC Bank data breach notification (.PDF). “You may have received a call or email from us so we could help you change your online banking credentials and access your account.”
