Sixty-six of percent of phone users said they had suffered data-related harm: 11 percent suffered identity theft, 22 percent account hacking, 14 percent credit cards hacking and 12 percent financial fraud.
Smartphone owners are growing worried about data privacy, and will delete apps they don’t trust. And only a quarter feel they are in control of their personal data.
Research carried out by the Mobile Ecosystem Forum (MEF), a trade body, found that Europeans are among the most wary cellphone users, with the recent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) pushing privacy up the agenda. But privacy concerns are increasing globally, according to the study released last week.
